Hey girl!
Welcome to Week One of the May Style Challenge. Let’s get into it!
This week’s key colour is cherry red - bold, punchy, and oh-so-fun to wear. Think red tops, red nails, a red lip, red earrings… or even just a pop of red in a print. Before you start outfit planning, I want you to do one simple thing:
Take inspiration from the colour first, not the outfits I’ve put together in the email.
Head to your wardrobe and have a little explore. What do you already own that works with this week’s cherry red theme? If the inspo shows a white skirt but you’ve got a white dress - amazing! Can you style it with a red ribbon or a red cardigan? Or a black skirt and you’ve only got black pants? Perfect! Can you style it with red sneakers or a red lip? This challenge is all about working with what you have.
We’re loosely following the 3-3-3 rule this week:
3 bottoms
3 tops
3 outerwear pieces or dresses
This just gives you a bit of a framework to mix and match from.
A few tips before you dive in:
Check the weather for the week ahead! (There’s nothing worse than planning a cute outfit and then freezing or melting in it.)
Plan your outfits for the week in advance. You could hang them on hooks, pop them on a clothing rack, or even just write a little note in your phone. It takes the mental load off your mornings.
And don’t forget to accessorise! A statement earring, a red handbag, a cute hair clip - these little touches can totally elevate your look.
There’s some outfit inspo below to get your creative juices flowing, plus a few links if you feel like adding something new. But as always, shop your own wardrobe first - you might surprise yourself with how much you already have.
Let’s make cherry red the colour of the week!
With love and outfit joy,
Rachel
